  • Use H.264 4:22 codec to record video at any choice of resolution. It will help make a cleaner key.

While 4:2:0 can do a clean key with effort it is not as easy as 4:2:2 with proper lighting which I’ll get into later.

Also use the SDI out of your camera to your ATEM switcher instead of HDMI if your only doing HD work and not 4K. I’m hoping your camera can output 4:2:2 color space via SDI.

    And lastly…
Light the Green Screen at any kelvin/temperature you like, but evenly with no more than 70-80% luminance measured on a waveform monitor. Then light talent at least 6’ to 10’ away from the green screen backdrop. If you do this right, you should have a clean key every time.

If you follow every step I suggest and you still don’t have a clean key your ATEM switcher may be the culprit.

What are you trying to accomplish? Looks like your existing system, while older certainly can handle the heft of most any 4K project if you’re running CUDA with Sierra. Are you looking for real time performance/rendering? Want to handle 6, 8K footage, or VR?

With Apple’s focus now on Metal which for me looks promising. The reason I write that Metal looks promising is because I have an older 15″ 2014 MacBook Pro 2.5 i7 and 2GB Nividia GT 750M graphics running Mojave that I travel with. I have no problems editing 4K (full or half rez) with three layers for quick projects on the go. External drives of course for Cache and Footage. I also use Neat Video a lot to clean up 4K footage from a DJI Mavic Pro 1 which is a very GPU and CPU intensive software because it works at the pixel level. I used to have the CUDA driver when I used Sierra on the machine before Mojave which Neat Video preferred, however I have to admit the renders are equal to and sometimes literally faster than CUDA was for me. Metal may not be fully implemented, but it seems to work very well. I’m sure (hope) it will get better.

Back to your question…More is always better. More Cores. More RAM. More GPU Memory.

I personally add an adjustment layer to the entire sequence. After that I go through the individual clips as necessary to match shots. If everything was properly white balanced and exposed correctly you shouldn’t have much to do here.

You can add as many adjustment layers you want, Coloring is subjective,, but you still have to meet certain technical requirements for luminance, saturation, and black. If you want it all green that’s up to you. Your RGB waveform is your best friend to help you keep it legal.

It’s possible that some of your preference files may have become corrupted during your recent update. Try this below, however it will basically put Premiere Pro back to factory default settings on relaunch.

To rest preferences Press Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac OS) while launching Premiere Pro. You can release the Alt key or Option key when the splash screen appears.

    OR

To reset preferences and plug-in cache at the same time, hold down Shift-Alt (Windows) or Shift-Option (Mac OS) while the application is starting. Release the Shift-Alt keys or Shift-Option key when the splash screen appears.

My first question would be…did you update to Catalina? If you did then that could definitely be your issue. Adobe recommends not updating to Catalina at this time.

If you did not update to Catalina then I would simply uninstall Premiere and re-install it again. That’s assuming your project files and media are on another drive.

I would save any settings you want for your User, Scene files, etc. on an SD card, and then do a factory reset and see if that fixes your problem first before spending any money on repairs.

It depends on what resolution your shooting. Any 1920×1080 or 720 settings, yes on all outputs. UHD or 4K DCI no. In 4K UHD and 4k DCI formats on the Sony FS7 and FS7 ii the SDI ports become inactive when using those resolutions. The only way you can output UHD, DCI 4K or 4K RAW with SDI on either FS7 models is by adding the Sony XDCA-FS7 adapter. $1998 New at B&H.

Thanks, but that’s not it either. The white glowing marks look like they were spilled or leached out somewhere behind the protective glass on the upper right portion for the LCD. The LCD is intact and works fine otherwise. I’ve shown several guys now and everyone is baffled like I am. It’s no problem though, I rarely use the viewfinder as it is. I always use a monitor. Here’s a picture. Cheers!
