I totally agree with Sascha on his thoughts!

To speak to some of what was suggested – for me previous/next keyframe is not working at all.

Another annoying little bug – if i do a roll or slip in my conform page getting the timeline to match my offline reference the offline disappears completely after i do the edit operation so i have to click back on the timeline and move the cursor in order to get the offline to reappear – when you have multiple shots to do this is super annoying and wastes time.

Really love V9 and appreciate the hard work the BMD team has done – with that said, I would love to straighten out all the bugs i am experiencing!

Yup that is one of MANY bugs i am seeing after upgrading from V9beta3.

Some were bugs in the beta but also some news ones in the release of V9. While I am super excited for V9, and genuinely think BMD has done an amazing job, I am really waiting to see whats to come with Resolve.

I have to say I am very surprised the actual release of V9 is this buggy – IBC deadline or not. Have not heard much back from BMD support either so I plan to maybe just backup all my projects and do a clean install and upgrade from Lion 10.7.4 to 10.8.1 and just do a clean install of ResolveV9 as well..unless of course I hear others are experiencing these bugs as well then i know its not just my system!

    i.e.

    – Previous/Next Keyframe keyboard shortcut and menu not working at all.

    – Node graph bug – Cannot name nodes? a little hand symbol now prevents me from naming new nodes, i can only seem to select previously named nodes to alter text naming.

    – Enable/Disable Node while in Enhanced & Cinema view not working at all.

    – green bar on timeline keyframes not selecting correct node (keyframe timeline is full of weird bugs i am finding) – jumps all over the place and sometimes does not show the correct node with green bar.

    – Reverse tracking not consistently working – wont actually do a reverse track sometimes. Also finding functions non responsive in this toolkit

    – saving custom presets not working?

A lot of this stuff worked in V8 so I am really curious to get some feedback from other users and actually BMD?! about what might be going on with my system or V9.

A few things I notice right off the bat after upgrading from the beta:

    1) Previous/Next keyframe is still not working on keyboard shortcut and menu select?

2)The other thing i notice is when using option+f to go into the larger view in the Color tab enable/disable node or grade is no longer working.

    3) When i try to name a node its a little hand icon only so i cant tap or click above a node anymore – only right click works now.

4)Mouse scroll to zoom in/out of a shot not working – have to command + or – to get that working.

    Anyone else having these problems??

    Great news!

How best to install over the V9beta3?

Really excited to see what else might have been added since the beta, are there release notes describing bug fixes and updates, etc since the beta?

    cheers

  • I am aware that you can do this in Resolve yes.

I was curious to know if this is the recommended method of grading material of this nature – both for blue/green screen as well as just some other solid background wall for example. How have you typically graded blue screen material to all match? Would love to get some feedback from you and anyone else who has had to deal with his material in Resolve.

I appreciate you pointing out the page in the new manual, I will checkout that section now.
    thank you

September 6, 2012 at 5:13 am in reply to: V9b3 – Previous/Next Keyframe not working?!

yes well as i would always do in V8 i am working in PTZR no??

  • Thank you for the response Joseph.

I am just a little confused by this: “So after you have roughed in your plates, either by linking an alpha channel or extracting a matte from the blue/green/whatever foreground and connecting that to the appropriate plate layer, then you are simply grading to achieve what we always do.”

I am not sure I understand what you are suggesting for workflow precisely in Resolve..do I have to do a temporary key of the blue background and THEN grade everything to match or is there other methods – regardless can you explain?

    Thank you!

August 24, 2012 at 4:49 am in reply to: Grading R3d material – Redlog vs. Redlog Film

    Thank you for the responses.

I just have been doing this method since reading about people grading with this as the starting point and also i realize I saw the Baselight colorists using Redlog as a starting point on the color grading course they offered last term “GRD201 The Craft of Color Grading”.

I am curious to get some consensus on what people grading across the map – TV, Web and Film – a best practices if you will. I understand its subjective and on a shot per shot basis but its something I have been curious about to get other persepctives.

    Thank you for your feedback.
