September 10, 2014 at 4:41 pm in reply to: Dealing with AVCHD/h.264/.mts when editing in Premiere CS6/WorkflowThanks for the quick reply Paul,
Yeah, I think I always underestimate the Media Browser, but I’m practically OCD when it comes to organizing my footage and I don’t think I can batch rename or move the clips via Media Browser, no?
So my workflow would be something like: Bridge to batch rename and move clips to their proper drives, then use Media Browser to import footage to Premiere?
I’m glad to hear you don’t have a problem with editing in AVCHD. I think I’ll do this workflow on my next project in the coming days.
Thanks so much!

September 10, 2014 at 4:08 pm in reply to: Abode Premiere Cc: Cropped image wont re fill composition 🙁I’m certainly no master, but it looks like Premiere DID “scale to frame size” but it just scaled it up to fill the height of your frame, not width.
Did you keep the same resolution/ratio when you cropped your footage? If you didn’t, that might explain why your footage doesn’t “fit” in the frame anymore. Your frame is one size and your footage is another.
You could always go under the “Motion” setting in the effects tab (just above your crop setting) and scale the footage up? You’ll just take a quality hit for it but it might still be useable.

July 2, 2014 at 8:32 pm in reply to: Green Shading Appears on Premiere CS6 Export?Marcin,
I have no GPU Acceleration so I went and exported without using “Using Maximum Render Quality” and the problem is solved.
But any idea why that would cause the green shading?
Thanks so much for the help!

May 6, 2014 at 3:45 pm in reply to: Canon XF100/200 as main camera for weddings? Wireless mics?!Thanks for the reply Brent!
That $450 price point looks even better haha! I’ll look into Sony’s wireless systems as well.
The video coming out of some DSLRs is pretty amazing and no doubt the shallow depth of field is very popular, but I’m hesitant to cross over into the DSLR Video world. The idea of having to lug around multiple lens (like I do at work with the Panasonic AF100) and switching them out on the fly while running-and-gunning sounds like a nightmare. Plus, the thought of having to build a rig, invest in lenses and adaptor equipment… am I just naive to think I can get close to that DSLR style from a “traditional” video camera without the hassle? Or is it not as bad as I’m making it out to be?
Yes, is the C100 beautiful or what?! I know we have an expensive hobby and I’m prepared to pay but jeeezz at that $5,000 price point (but totally worth it) and still having to buy lenses and rig gear… I shudder. Maybe I’m too cheap for this hobby haha.
I’ll cross over to DSLR’s if it’s really the way video is going (thoughts?) but boy am I not looking forward to having Frankenstein rigged to my shoulder as I run and gun at weddings.

Phew, I like that price point for sure! I was expecting to have to pay $1k-1.5k but if I can get decent quality out of those Sennheiser’s for only $800, count me in! I’ll start researching them immediately!
**Also, side note for anyone else in reference to my camera search, and before anyone slaps me for not mentioning it – the Sony AX100. Yes, I know. It’s 4k shinny with compact goodness but I know there’s no way my NLE/Computer setup could ever handle RAW 4k video. Maybe if I downsampled but that just sounds like more work, no? I’ve got a Mid 2011 Mac Mini (I’d like to update soon) with 8GB of RAM, using FCPX (I’d like to upgrade to CS6 soon) and G-Tech’s RAID0 2TB external HDD with another 2TB random HDD I had laying around, for backup.

Thanks for taking the time to lay it all out for me Ryan!
It’s so great to have people like you and all the others that are so kind on the forum here.
Take care!

Thanks for the clarification Shane!
Well, I’ve certainly learned from all this and I appreciate the guidance. I’ll just run the 60fps master through compressor to 24fps and, in the future, shoot at 24fps or 30fps.
Thanks again!

Thanks for taking the time to respond Ryan.
I’m sorry I wasn’t as clear as I should have been in my previous post.
Yes, everything was shot at 60fps. My reasoning behind this was because, to my knowledge, video shot at 60fps will stay sharper or have better image quality when slowed down by any amount, compared to video shot at lower FPS aka the higher the FPS the better the slow motion?
Since I was one-man-banding the wedding, working two cameras, I knew there would be candid moments of the couple I’d want to capture and slow down later in post, so the idea of shooting at 24fps made me worry about how that slow motion would turn out. I’m aware of over cranking but, being a run-and-gun kind of event, I knew I wouldn’t have time to stop and change camera FPS rates, especially if I saw a candid moment and only had seconds to capture it, so I decided to shoot it all at 60fps – just in case. Am I going about this completely wrong lol?
In post, I edited on a FCPX timeline with 60fps settings because I wasn’t sure which clips I’d want to slow down until I got to that point in the creative process. I only want selected clips slowed, maybe to 40% (which I thought was close to a 24fps look) and I slowed them using the Retime/Conform feature in FCPX. Encoding all clips to 24fps before importing them for post would have slowed them all down, no?
After making all my edits and liking what I saw at 60fps I thought to myself, “I wonder if I’d prefer cinematic feel of 24fps rather than 60fps?” Which brought me to the forums to find out if it was too late to make a 24fps version with no or minimal image loss?
I’m sorry if I have the whole FPS – slow motion concept backwards lol
