This would explain the strobe look, since the shutter is too fast for progressive due to the fact that it was shot interlaced.”
Mmmm.. the strange thing is that I just tried to capture in 1080i from HDMI using Intensity Pro and, even if I see an excellent quality without any strobe effect (in the capture preview window in FCP), than the captured clip has still the strobe effect.
So, if I have FCP and Producer and an HDV camcorder… I’m totally in pain! 🙁

Ok, so I’ve to check it everytime I import/export in ProPres. For example, if you export self-contained from FCP or Media 100, it automatically set to “Progressive”… I’m not sure, but it seems like this.
[Floh] “You have a kind of strobe look due to the fact that you have progressive material which seems to have not enough motion blur, but I don

Yes, you already told me and be sure I always do this. 🙂
I was asking you if I’ve to check “Interlaced” in the Apple ProRes codec settings for capture (you can do this even when export from edit suite in Media 100 using Quick Time exporter).Alessio

If the clip does not fast-import on your system (as long as the “Import Media into…” checkbox is turned off, something seems to be wrong on your system.”
Instead of directly import the capture.mov, I tried to export it in self-contained from FCP and import in Media 100.. same window, “Rendering….” but I changed the codec from ProRes HQ to ProRes in the Project Settings and… voil

If i do this, it imports the clip again, but it’s still slow (it appears a rendering window). In add, when I drag this bin in the program, it appears a window

The import in Media 100 is not so fast… it does a render (it appears a rendering window) while imports the clip. Here all the settings of the steps I need to create the final DVD: maybe it can help.
[floah] “Can you post a sample clip somewhere so that we can take a look?”
Of course, I’m doing it.. but my ADSL is only 256 Kbps in upload, so it needs a lot (30 sec of clip are near 220 MB in ProRes): I’ll alert you when the acquired clip and exported one in SCM are uploaded.

Hello Michael,
thanks for your reply.
I setted my HDV camcorder with the “squeeze” option during the HDV to DV downconvertion and I acquired the clip in FCP.I’m really in trouble, because this clip appears as 16:9 in compressor and as 4:3 in QuickTime or Media 100…
When you acquire in Media 100 from the HDV downconvertion, do you set your project in SD 625i 16:9 or 4:3?

Wow, thank you!
I tried both the software: MPEG Streamclip is free and it works great.
Best regards,
