it creates slugs in all instances without exception. It is a timeline without spaces – that was randy ubilloses “I can see stars” insight for the craft of editing.
My timeline has no time, no space, no video channels, god i would often calmly throw whole short form edit versions off away down the track – V1 through V7 high, wee little towers of editing thought when I zoom out- this is why now I truly hate that comparison shot apple so carefully orchestrated between FCP7 and FCPX, everything they said there was intellectually false, everything they tried to sell was false, all they were doing was laying the groundwork for a base consumer cash grab where they took the name of FCP and the brute moronic simplicity of V1 A2 imovie, burned the professional application base alive and sold the moron with glitz bells software to anyone who would buy it. Apple didn’t make this software for editors as a craft or a profession, they could give a damn. they saw lobotomised editing with the FCP marker as an ipod sale.
all apple want, all they have ever wanted in their lives – is cash.
this image could somewhat sum it up:
famous quote from Thomas Jefferson:
“Randy Ubillos, you total and utter moron, FCP7 wasn’t a multitrack editor, editing is a multitrack operation, editing systems are intended to be an expression of that truth.”http://www.ogallchoir.net

yes. thank you jesus.
I mean we have to – look – either apple are in Versailles throwing cake out the window and peeing on our heads laughing, or there is some chance we can forcefully present to them the sheer idiocy of this software. It is incumbent upon us to kick this particular editing software provider’s ass until it shines.

(I was the one who shouted at him to explain eye matching shots with one viewer – when he was going to drop the question request card referring to it. I’m not proud of it, but that solution he produced was balls.)

As far as I can tell, the quoted public discussion of FCPX is, in large part, the discussions and leader pieces taking place on the cow –
god bless this place frankly.http://www.ogallchoir.net

June 25, 2011 at 11:45 pm in reply to: What Apple is really doing ….. And I commend themI said this below, and its true, there really isn’t a lot of time – a major british broadcaster is dumping, well was in the process, of, and is now accelerating, dumping FCP as an editing platform, an international american 24 hour news channel with a major base in london is receiving directives from engineering to EOL all the FCP7 suites, there are annual budgets, and the software apple have produced here is completely, completely unfit for purpose, don’t anyone please I beg you argue that point – the only thing pushing against the engineering crew is the talent saying that there won’t be a skills base of freelancers to operate the PPRO engineering wants to install this cycle – that’s true and its forestalling action, but not for very long. We’re not talking months of grace.
making vague prognostications about future extensibility, and saying we should prepare to pay vast sums beyond the original cost of FCS3 in order to retain basic functionality if it arrives, is no argument at all – there are core issues with the software (its moronic) that no XML hooks or python framework or whatever the hell it will be if and when it ever arrives -these are no answer to the basic idiocy of the timeline itself, the media management or the project sharing, (or the complete and utter lack thereof),
people may say that some of our hair is on fire, I would argue rather that the entire professional editing FCP house is on fire and we’re standing in the middle of it – tell me to go to premiere if I’m unhappy and I will give you a sweet for originality, moving to another editing system is unpalatable but eminently feasible – but that rather gets away from the fact that apple just set my entire ten years worth of software specific skills base on fire.
And amn’t I one of those creative people they rabbit on about? you know – the crazy ones? disingenuous arseholes Apple are.FCP as a professional application is pretty much going down in flames around us, and apple did that so they could sell the utter bollocks software they cooked up as a thoughtless mass ipod scale consumer purchase. They pulled the ripcord and blew up all our houses (I do like some hyperbole) to make themselves some more of that cash they so desperately crave.
This image, I found, really sums it all up:
famous quote from Abraham Lincoln:

Chris baby, if apple introduced a feature where they delivered 50 volt shocks every 90 minutes through the keyboard, I strongly suspect you would be telling me how it is essential to keeping the editor alert on the longer edit sessions. I”m afraid I’m not actually engaging with you on this post – I’ve made my thoughts clear above, my thoughts are my own.
Famous Quote from Ben Franklin:
“Randy Ubillos, you total ass, FCP7 wasn’t a multitrack editor, editing is a multitrack operation, editing systems are intended to be an expression of that truth.”http://www.ogallchoir.net

Oh no – I’m not going down to crazy town with you again Chris – we’re doing enough of that below. I’ve stated my thoughts above, they are my own.

‘Multitrack’ man, just keep saying multitrack to yourself, roll it around on your tongue and keep looking at FCPX – at some point you’re going to stop and shout – hang on! I’ve had an insight! This software is total bollocks! What the hell is going on!??!
It’ll come – I swear it to you.

Oh absolutely – what were we all thinking? Multitrack, it’s so obvious, we must be mad. You’re kind of funny dude, you really are.
And yes, you’re bang on Chris:
“You can’t be expected to work like that; the FCP team was full of idiots who designed a timeline that’s impossible to edit with”
You’re spot on there man, that statement is right on the money, fair play to you.

Yeah and you know what, that is all dumb as crazy town dumb. How in the hell am I supposed to work with a single track of video sliding around itself and a secondary track that attaches to the clip below it the minute I lay it down?
So I’ll say it for the third time Chris: FCP7 wasn’t a multitrack editor, editing is a multitrack operation, all editing systems are an expression of that essential truth. Or they were until the grinning idiot of all time Randy walked in the room.
