    It seems the last expensive hardware requirement is really the control interface as the graphics card problem has a more affordable solution that works just as well.
    For the problem of not being able to use a mouse with Resolve because it lacks graphical representation of hue/sat wheels like Color, well, as far as I know the Tangent or any control boards do not have graphical representation either right? They just have numerical representation. If so, doesn’t Resolve have numerical representation next to the sliders? If not then it would be the first app I have ever seen not to have anything. If it does, then what is the difference between numerical representation on the Tangent and on the screen?

    Also I was looking at this and wondering if it could be used as a poor man’s interface for resolve. It even has a LCD screen on it. If somebody would write an app it could even potentially show what the Tangent shows on their LCDs. Off course you would only be able to control one wheel at a time, but like I said, a poor man’s version. 😉

    Will FCPreconnect works for reconnecting media from Color? I’m thinking not but I thought I would ask as I’m running out of options here. Thanks.

  • Thanks Neil. I think I understand your suggestion. Just one thing I’m still missing:

    [Neil Sadwelkar]What you could try is to do a ‘Send to Color’, set the Color project format to DPX. Grade in Color but don’t do a ‘Send to FCP’. Instead, just render. Your DPX originated files as well as non-DPX files will now all become DPX sequences, one per timeline clip. Send the Color DPXs to VFX.

    The only thing I don’t understand here is that to do a “Send to Color” from FCP I have to have the footage converted to Prores in FCP since I don’t have GlueTools and was trying to do without it. So when I render the clips to DPX in Color, it will be rendered from the down converted Prores files from FCP right? This would defeat the purpose of they have recorded to 10bit 422 DPX if I will be using the down converted footage to send to VFX. Not sure they would be happy with that.
    Once in Color,can I somehow reconnect the files to the original DPX files instead of using the down converted prores from FCP?

    The other thing is I don’t need to grade them before sending it to VFX. Actually I should not since VFX wants untouched plates otherwise I could mess their green screen work. But I guess I don’t have to grade before, I can just grade it all once it come back right?

    I think with Bouke I can workout the things related to FCPreconnect, but this is just a part of the whole workflow.
