Firefox has a plugin called ‘YouPlayer’. You drag the video link on to it and then you can right click and save as a movie.
I’ve used it a couple of times and works well.

Edits like a charm in PPRO CS3 using custom desktop video editing mode.
For those doubting that this can be worthwhile, the Enron Smartest Guys movie grossed $4 million and was made up almost entirely of what appear to be Real Media clips from the 90’s. YouTube quality is usually much higher, especially recent uploads.
