How do you deal with the fact that most consumer displays are adaptive / non-static these days? As an example: a white patch (RGB=(255, 255, 255)) will be displayed at different output luminances depending on the size of the patch; there are similar issues for chromaticities. A static 3DLUT correction will always correct to whatever test-pattern you used to measure the display, and won’t deal with variable content. Thanks.

Not all displays float white nor black much at all. In the case of a VT25 (with last firmware), VT30 or VT50, the amount is tiny, and perceptually pretty much invisible.

Some other consumer displays do this way too much, and, you are right, should not be used for grading.

You need to disable any adaptive / “smart” settings on your display before calibration. That’s standard operating procedure when calibrating any device.
