I have the latest update for premier cc, but don’t see the xavc codec as an option when creating a new sequence or exporting. Do I need to download? Can you send me instructions?

    Thank you!

I could be wrong, but I don’t think that it’s supported in CS6. In which case you may need to transcode your footage first.

For CS6 the options would be to transcode or use the ROVI plug-in (Win only) and I’m NOT 100% sure it does XAVC @ 2k. You would need to check with them.

Did you ever get a response or find a fix? My XAVC 1080 footage scrubs just fine, but won’t play. I don’t see the XAVC codec mentioned anywhere in Premiere CC.

For xavc codec, Pro CC V 7.2.2 can handle it but CS6 may fail. In order to carry on my work, I have to find some converters …

It is generally known that the new version 7.2 Adobe Premiere Pro CC adds native supports for XAVC, but problems still exist sometimes. The XAVC format has been designed to support all current popular AV media resolutions, including 4K, QFHD, 2K, HD, and SD as a proxy. According to our test, it’s hard to import 4K XAVC to Premiere Pro CC…If you want a more efficient method of working with XAVC in Adobe Premiere Pro (including old version Premiere Pro CS4/CS5/CS6 or the latest CC) that saves time and speeds up the production process, you’d better convert XAVC to MPEG-2, Adobe Premiere most compatible format.

Sony PMW-F55 can record XAVC with 4K resolution at 60 fps at 600 Mbit/s and 2K resolution at 120 fps at 400 Mbit/s.For the XAVC format,It uses level 5.2 of H.264/MPEG-2 AVC which is the highest level supported by that video standard.People always meet the unknown error when it comes to viewing, importing and editing XAVC files in non-linear editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro, even update it to the latest versions.we need convert it which enables you to directly output XAVC MXF file to Adobe Premiere Pro optimized MPEG-2 format for non-linear editing from its output profile option.

    hi there,
i think if you are a professional photographer or video editor, and the Sony PMW-F55 can record XAVC with 4K resolution at 60 fps at 600 Mbit/s and 2K resolution at 120 fps at 400 Mbit/s. you must looking for a high quality of video to entertainment.According to this, you need to convert your XAVC to a protable format to edit, such as MPEG-2,cause the MPEG-2 format is supported by Premiere Pro perfectly for editing.

Do you have Final Cut Pro X? The transcoded media works much better and smoother for grading and playback than regular XAVCS 4k. But it’s wrapped in an .mp4 container. Apple compressor won’t do change it to Pro Res, Adobe Media Encoder won’t change it to pro res.

So, even though I don’t edit with final Cut pro, it’s on my computer, so I import it into final cut pro and for some reason, it will transcode it to Pro Res 444 there. The file is much larger but that’s what you want for editing purposes. I then go into the Final Cut Pro project and move the transcoded video files to premiere. It does it quickly too. I also do this with Go Pro footage, not because I have to do it that way but it’s just way faster for some reason.
