Change Preroll to 1 sec.

Good advice, mishka. It’s set at 2 right now, which still makes me a bit nervous, especially with BetaSP. If it was shot correctly in the first place, I wouldn’t have this problem. Preroll is key, BetaSP tape is cheap. Also, out of 3 hours of captured footage, there were some tc breaks I missed. 1 sec of preroll won’t help in this case with free run tc. FCP takes forever to deal with tc breaks.

No worries. I know you have lots and lots of capturing to do, but I’ll reiterate, I highly suggest logging and capturing.
It’ll be a bit more work and time on the front end, but it will save you time in the long haul.

I use 1 sec. pre-roll for capture from BetaSP, Digibeta and DV for several years with very few problems. For editing back to tape you need 5 sec. anyway.
