When source media crosses midnight

Questions about how long conforms will take always make me laugh because clients swear that their projects are well organized and that conforming shouldn’t take as long as you say. Fact is it’s never as easy as they think. Today with so many elements coming together within an edit I feel that each conform brings with it a slew of issues to work through. It just makes me laugh.

How common is using scene detect with handles. Just get one long movie to work with per reel?
For the younger editors I am tempted to go this way with them..
