Activity Forums DaVinci Resolve What’s your display gamma

If the default gamma for Mac and PC users is 2.2, and you’re grading a video exclusively for web viewing, then that would be the best gamma to set your display to, right? Or in this case is it still better to use 2.4 or higher?

I have an NEC 2490WUXi display, and I use Spectraview software with a puck to calibrate. I mainly do still photography, so I’ve been using the “photo editing” preset. There’s also a “digital cinema” setting, which I believe is for projection, and also a “broadcast video” setting.

I’m curious to hear any suggestions for calibrating my display for video that will only be shown on the web. I just got Alexis’s Color Correction book; I’m sure that will help.

Repeating the above poster question. Is it better to go with the default 2.2 for web viewing or is it a good choice for a 2.4 gamma if for example grading some video material ?
