December 6, 2011 at 2:41 pmJust wanted to update folks on my attempts to figure out why the blue sky and clouds I can easily and clearly see in the Vegas Pro 10 viewer are not showing up when I render to MPEG2 and bring it into DVDA.
I have still not figured this out, so I am hoping some of the other moderators and knowledgeable folks on this forum will help me out.
I now know it is Vegas and not DVDA that is the key to fixing this. I took one of the overexposed clips, and used it as an experiment. I tried the Studio RGB to Computer RGB preset that was suggested. I rendered this single clip to MPEG2. While it was rendering I could see that the blue sky and clouds were not showing up. I tried rendering to AVI, and again I saw the same results. This makes no sense to me. I thought essentially that what you see in the Vegas preview screen is what you will see on the final DVD. Any help folks can provide is much appreciated. Jim

December 6, 2011 at 2:45 pmJim, use a service like Dropbox or similar, upload the problem clip and test veg file and then give us the link so that we can try it for yourself and see if we can figure out what’s going on.

December 6, 2011 at 3:55 pmWait, did you use Studio RGB to Computer RGB? Because it should be the other way around-Computer to Studio. See if that makes a difference.

December 6, 2011 at 3:55 pmPerfect Jim.
I opened up the file, substituted my own media and got a very dark image.
I noticed that, along with several FX, you have 3 different takes there.
I also noticed, in the Pan/Crop mask window, that the mask isn’t closed and this may be your problem.
I tried rendering to AVI, MPG and MP4 and got was showing in the preview window all three times. -

December 6, 2011 at 4:22 pmThanks for reviewing this!
“I noticed that, along with several FX, you have 3 different takes there.” I think this is because I had three different cameras, using Excalibur for the multicam process.
“I also noticed, in the Pan/Crop mask window, that the mask isn’t closed and this may be your problem.” I noticed this also, but I had used the eyedropper in the secondary color corrector to choose the area I wanted to correct.
“I tried rendering to AVI, MPG and MP4 and got was showing in the preview window all three times.” So, why can’t I get this result? Jim

I just did the Computer RGB to Studio RGB preset, and I am not getting any change in the MPEG2 results. Thanks for your suggestion. Jim

I have no idea 🙁
Post a screen shot of your entire Vegas project and let us take a look at it.
There has to be something simple we’re overlooking. -

December 6, 2011 at 6:25 pmPardon my ignorance, but how do I do that? I tried doing a print screen, but it would not copy here. I could get it to copy in Word, but not in PhotoShop. Jim
