I doubt that is the case. FCS 5.5 or 6 or whatever might be next will just have an upgrade path from 5.0.5 or 5.1.1 at two different prices.”
Martin is talking about Software Updates. There are no more software updates for FCP 5.0. All software updates released from here forward are for FCP 5.1 until the next major release of FCP.
What you’re talking about is an Upgrade. And yes, it will probably be more expensive to upgrade from 5.0 than 5.1 or whatever .revision we’re at when FCP 6 is released.

That’s an interesting conclusion. Since G5 Mac users don’t need to upgrade to 5.1, I think it’s unlikely there’ll be a different upgrade price from 5.0.x to 5.1.x. Seems a bit overcomplicated, and since 5.0.3 (even) is perfectly stable on a G5 machine, unnecessary. I can see the reasoning, just feel differently about this.
I guess we’ll know next April.
