November 7, 2009 at 3:32 pmI’m having the same problem – can anyone attach the FCP 7.0.0 DesktopVideoout.component file or provide a link to it? I went to finish an edit on a Wedding video today and my playback was a mess after the last update to 7.0.1
If someone emails it to me joe@nerdnet.com I’ll put it online, even 🙂
Cheers.

November 8, 2009 at 9:53 amI have exactly the same problem, except that it started off by stuttering and then after I tried changing settings, became a freeze frame. It freezes the Canvas as well. So I have to switch of Desktop preview to work.
When I replace the DesktopVideoOut.component on mine with the one from the Install file, I’m afraid it still didn’t work.
Is there anything else I can try?

November 8, 2009 at 4:00 pmI’ve had to replace /library/quicktime/DesktopVideoOut.component (updated version 1.2.6) on both an OCTO mac and my Macbook Pro after running the Pro Applications Update 2009-01.
Just know that after you downgrade to the FCP 7 “DesktopVideoOut.component” version 1.2.5 your software update will want to reinstall the Pro Applications Update 2009-01 again – breaking desktop playback again – so you’ll have to ignore that update until Apple fixes the problem.
Here’s the file- You have to unzip it first before dragging it to

November 9, 2009 at 8:43 amYeah! Got it! Trash the preferences and then re-install the desktopvideoout.component!
Phew… was beginning to think I was going to have to go through the whole horrible routine of reinstalling everything.

November 26, 2009 at 8:51 amChanging video component worked for me too, but not with the component given by Mathew Brodet. I went back to the installation disk and followed instructions on LAFCPUG on how to locate the component.
I coincidentally changed monitors at the same time and originally thought I’d bought a dodgy monitor.

January 18, 2010 at 10:57 pmHas this bug been fixed yet? I just had to upgrade to Snow Leopard and now the fullscreen is stuttering again.
ThanksBrian Berdan
migrant filmworkercurrently on a MacBookPro, using FCP 7.0.1, ProResLT from Firewire (4 TB of incredible footage) and a simple DVI out to the monitor- things are getting simpler.

January 29, 2010 at 10:23 pmFYI, just followed the instructions above, with the download provided and it did the trick on my 15″ 2009 MBP that was doing the same thing….worked like a charm
