Watching the live key code panel. Anyone else?

Generally encoding for live streaming is progressive but of course it’s possible they were using interlaced sources and weren’t de-interlacing.

I think they mentioned it was the first time they were live streaming so maybe there were some oversights.

I’m hoping to see the VOD posted soon. I’m wondering why it hasn’t unless they’re trying to clean up some of the problems. When I’ve live streamed I generally can get the VOD recording going within a couple of hours.

Chiming in late, but HP is spinning off the Personal Systems Group, which is basically the stuff they acquired from Compaq, and doubling down on the Workstations Business Unit.

It’s not something to be concerned by. It’s something to celebrate – finally, a company dropping its consumer gadget lines in order to focus on pro users. What a concept!

It would have been far more ironic to include a MacBook Pro, when Pro is clearly not meaning what it used to at Apple.

I never got a comprehensible stream. I was hoping someone else did and I see some posts about it here but so far not much luck on that front. I also thought it might be posted somewhere afterward but I haven’t seen that either. I wonder what they said?

Actually, it was a pretty decent discourse, but there wasn’t any new news. A few people offered some glimpses of “insider” comments, like:

– ProApps is essentially the r&d development arm of Apple, so why would it go away?

– Most of the people that are switching are talking about Avid and adobe, and not much else.

– Only if Apple would have kept fcs3 on sale, or offered a translation option fro fcp7 to fcpx, the mass hysteria wouldn’t be so prevalent.

It was a level headed conversation and worth watching.

A good point was brought up that Apple was a technology company. In that sense, what they did to fcp7 was their very business model. Out with the old, in with the new, for better or worse.

I saw the 2nd half of the stream. I had a look at their Twitter feed post the stream and they say they’ll post it in about a week. As someone who is involved in streaming, they could have posted it in a couple of hours. Apparently they’re either going to do a lot of cleanup or they have a higher quality recording that’s going to be edited, my guess.

Personally I think a week is too long given how old the news gets. Of course FCPX is staying topical for longer than other industry items but I guess they weighed that against improvements they can do in the edit. There certainly were a lot of technical problems with the audio.
