The Photoshop CS is way over my head dollar wise, John! Are there any other programs out there that can accomplish the batch in broadcast safe task I might be able to afford?

    lol….You can take a look at https://www.irfanview.com
It comes highly recommended for doing batch conversion of
resizing your images with great results…..and its free.

If you can’t afford Photoshop (and I can understand because for years I used Paint Shop Pro before I could afford CS) any photo editing program that can batch process and adjust levels will probably do (Paint Shop Pro being one of them).

You can do all of this in Vegas too. I would bet that adding Levels to the Track instead of the Event and adjusting it to the worst photo would probably keep all others within limits. I would try that first. Since they came from the same camera, they probably all have the same dynamic range. If it doesn’t work on all photos, move the photos that it does work on to a separate track. Quite often I would correct at the track level and place only the events that need that correction on that track.

Thanks again John. I ‘ll have to put this suggestion in practice to learn how it works. The thing I like about the program is that the more you do things with it the easier it falls together. Still have a way to go.

Yes, I have this program, Steve. Never did much with it. I’ll see what I can get out of it. Thanks!

Was the sky and clouds bright in those pictures? I’m wondering if any values above 235 (236-255)

John, what values are we talking about here. Brightness, contrast luminance etc.,???

The representation of the color white on the RGB scale as R=235, G=235, B=235 as the whitest white allowed and R=16, G=16, B=16 as the blackest black. Luminance is definitely a component.

Thanks John, this gives me a better understanding. In the irfanview program that Steve Rhoden suggested there is an advanced option to manually set parameters individually. I am going to play with all of the suggestions you have offered to find the easier work around. I have a ton of pictures for this project and I’ll be satisfied to find a happy medium. Here is a screenshot of the advanced page.
