On a similar note, I also notice problems if you open an Adobe Premiere Elements file in Premiere Pro. It seems to create a different sidecar file, which means all the sidecar files have to be rewritten again next time you open it in the original program.

Hmm…looking at this in After Effects CS 5.5…

If I have a rendered AE movie that is imported into FCPX and then I make a change in AE and re-render (overwriting the old file), the file is missing in FCPX and I cannot get it to relink.

I have deselected XMP in the output module (apparently even with this off some XMP–Time Code is still written to the file.

Is anyone else getting this to work as described above?

This is a huge problem from my perspective, bigger than things like Multi-Cam.

This has nothing to do with XMP in this case, but rather the way FCPx handles media.

Each file is uniquely tagged. Once that file changes, that tag is changed and FCPx thinks that file is gone.

You could try “Modify event references” but most likely you will need to reimport.
