September 22, 2008 at 5:12 pmAnother vote for the HDone from Caldigit.
I’ve had mine close to a year now, rock solid performance
and tech support is top notch.Caldigit is VERY agressive at wanting happy customers.

Tech support is available, and they have in-house tech support. Depending on the price you pay, you can have tech support included in the price.
Maxx replaced our first EVO HD when there was just a possibility of an issue. The unit was working, but it was a bit slower than it should have been, so they simply replaced the unit. That’s what I was used to with Medéa. Not sure what your issue was, but this is the first I’ve ever heard of bad service support, not saying it didn’t happen, but I’ve referred quite a few people to them, including a local Atlanta VAR that now purchases Maxx’s products, and haven’t had any issues come back yet.
By the way, MaxxDigital doesn’t make a 16TB product at this time. I’m assuming you purchased another company’s product through Maxx.

Just an FYI. The Maxx Digital EvoII has been doing 2k DPX files at NAB,Integraph and IBC with not one droped frame. You can ask Jon Thorn from AJA to verify. -

Cal Digit is great. Maxx Digital EVO 2 is great. Dulce ProDQ is great. Sonnet is great. Oh boy, what a dilema ! Instead of having a bunch of crap to choose from, you have all great products, that can all do uncompressed HD.
Well, maybe this will help you.
#1 – Maxx Digital is a dealer for all of these brands. Perhaps the lowest price may be the best value for these.
#2 – no matter what you buy, 3 years from now, they will all seem like crap (just like when we now look at Medea, HUGE, and StorCase).
And your 4 – 8 TB array will seem tiny, when everything being sold (by 2009) will be 32TB (with Hitachi 4TB drives).Perhaps this might help you – if you buy an Apple Promise VTrak, you will want to commit suicide (and be poor before you get a chance to jump off that building).
