Vegas Pro 10 renders AVI as WDP

Sorry to reply to an old thread, yet I have some light about the causes, at least in my case. I don’t have a solution yet.

A week ago, right after clean installing my whole system (Windows 7), I tried to install a ‘portable’ version of Internet Explorer v. 7 because I needed the compatibility for my internet banking. Great error, this installation messed up my whole system, and no system restore or cleaning tool helped me. Then I applied a fix that involved re-registering DLLs and, while my PC is functional now, this little problem remains.

Vegas believes that all Video For Windows, Sony MXF, Sony Perfect Clarity Audio, and WAV audio files, should use the ‘.wdp’ extension. This is most probably a registry problem.

I too just registered to reply to this.
I cant believe there is just a handful of us getting this.
Vegas 12 here. avi’s are good, but wav files and mxf both render with the wdp extension.
To confirm, the actual file is fine if you just change the extension. You can even drop an mxf in Handbrake and render your mp4. It obviously doesn’t care about the extension, just the file content.
It isnt a deal breaker by any means, just plain annoying when you are in a hurry.
Does anyone know a way to associate/dissociate files from within windows?

I have the same problem with Sony SoundForge and I am trying to find out a solution for this issue at Sony SoundForge Forum too. Until the present time, we have no solution for that case.I remember that I had some problems with Windows Media Center – BSplayer, VLC and Winamp Player and I had to uninstall all of them and re install just VLC and JetAudio and fixed Windows Media Player too. Maybe the issue comes from that codecs mess! I don`t know. I have used lots of registry cleaning software but could not solve that issue. If you guys find some way to solve this problem, please let me know.
