I’m finding this plug in very frustrating moreso because I have seen how powerful and wonderful it can be. The “Manual” included is a bit vauge describing concepts over real world tutorials which are much easier to learn from. It’s 2010 the year of video and video tutorials, couldn’t someone from RE:FLEX quickly do a a quick video tutorial morphing from one person from another. I know it will only lead to more people buying this awesome plug in. I consider myself very savy with AE yet I am struggling to no end to get this expensive plug in to work. I have scoured the internet in search of a solution and everyone seems to be saying the same thing, “where is the tutorial?”

    Thanks!

New video tutorials for RE:Flex should happen sometimes this summer.

Seen this example that Wes from Automatic Duck did:

    Hello,
I’m using your plug-in to morph together the stills from a camera array (like in The Matrix). I’m assuming the morph tool is the way to go (let me know if it’s not).
I’m wondering what the purpose of the second precomp is?
Can the warp not be done in the initial Comp?

    Thanks for your time.

    Oh yeah,
I’m on AE CS5 and although I’ve done this technique before, I did it with different programs. I’m VERY new to AE, so the more simple the explanation, the better!
    Thanks!

The precomp in the examples in the sample projects is used to locate in time the stills so if when you animate the button to use Pix key-frame in RE:Flex Morph it is at the proper place in time. (eg still 1 at frame 1 and still 2 at frame 30 and still 3 at frame 35).

If the stills come from a sequential still capture rig you might also consider to perform this work with Twixtor using “Frame Number” parameter animation instead. Twixtor PRO and RE:Flex Morph with Auto-Align are similar except for how the material has to be prepared for the tool. For example it’s much more practical with RE:Flex to remove bad frames or animate photos (e.g. make them talk) from a small set of stills.

    Hi again Pierre,
So I followed the picture to picture Flex Morph instructions, and it’s a good start to my project, but there are some areas where I think I’ll have to draw shapes.
Is there a way to combine the techniques of auto align and masking?

Thanks again! I’m already seeing this plugins potential!

Yes you often need to use both together.
What I personaly do usually is draw a few shapes, animate them at key-pix location to the corresponding location and then turn auto-align and see what happens. If there is some place that still has gnosting, this tells me where I should put the next shape(s).

You just draw them on the comp that already has the morph or in the precomp? Then animate between kayframes?
Sorry, I’m still figuring out AE, let alone the plug-in.

    Thanks again!

    Hi (Anyone)~ !

I’m Matt Hansel, an art director working (currently) for a music company in Nashville, TN. – We’re developing a website
currently, and have paid for “Adobe After FX” liscenses w/Adobe…

I went online looking for good “morphing” software – when I read about RE:flex, I thought I would try out the demo version (PC software) for windows… installed it… and – no dice. The “RE:flex” plugin did
not show up ANYWHERE when I launched Adobe After FX (CS4).

I don’t usually have this kind of trouble w/after FX plugins… are there some kind of special instructions somewhere for idiots like me who can’t seem to get the demo up and running…?

Thanks for your (anyone’s) help in advance,

    ~Matt Hansel

PS. Once I’ve evaluated the demo VS. – & demostrated it to management – I can use my pull here to persuade GV that we need to buy the licensed version to use the plug-in…
