June 3, 2008 at 8:02 pmHaha that made me chuckle,
I wasn’t in a rush to drop another few hundred bucks! I like video production, but not that much yet!
I appreciate your help Jill!
Thanks

June 4, 2008 at 5:19 pmHi Anthony,
[Anthony Uccello] “Perhaps you could rephrase “matte” and your last paragraph for the options available in Sony Vegas Pro? “
to clarify this: a matte is the same principle as an alpha channel, but it’s a separate file instead of part of the color clip. (Does that make sense?)
I did talk with Bob and unfortunately we don’t have a current version of Vegas. So, I’m stumped on how further to help you. Have you talked with the tech support at Vegas?
Good luck and please let me know how it turns out.

June 4, 2008 at 5:37 pmUsing the matte and mask generator are all you should need to do for this.
Matte on track one. Track in Mask mode.
Composite on track two, child of track one.Done.
Alternatively, you can also use mask generator on the matte, which will reveal the accompanying key.Douglas Spotted Eagle

I’ll read over the manual and tinker with this. I will report back if I have success!

June 5, 2008 at 3:06 amHere is the solution. Digital Juice uses mattes with their new Swipes. Go to the link below to read their instructions on how to set them up in Vegas Pro. It applies in the same way to the Artbeats transitions. I have the ArtBeats dropping egg transition as well and it worked for me when I followed their instructions.

June 5, 2008 at 3:35 amOops!
Sorry, Anthony, I just remembered that I had to modify their instructions somewhat. Here are the modifications using the egg drop transition:In step 1 drag the colored egg clip to video track 1 and then choose multiply mask as shown in step 2.
Drag the egg matte to video track 2 as shown in step 3, apply the mask generator as shown in step 4 and then make that a compositing child as shown in step 5.
Drag the two clips you’re transitioning between to video track 3 and butt them together directly below where the egg splatters.
That should do it.

I could kiss you! Thank you so much, your modified instructions worked perfectly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ohhh this is great!!!!!
You have no idea how much this means to me, I was losing sleep over this haha! Thank you Jim
(and thanks to Julie and the other posters for their efforts!!!!)
I do have one TINY question left (if it’s not to much to ask) about the transitions. They don’t seem to take up the whole screen. There is a think bar at the top and bottom that still shows the clip behind. Is there a way to expand the transition clip so to get rid of the bars at the top and bottom?

June 5, 2008 at 4:38 amAnthony,
Here’s how to fix that. Click on the little “event pan/crop” icon on the ArtBeat clip. Right click on the main screen that opens and choose “Match Output Aspect” and there you go. Make sure you do this with both ArtBeat clips.Glad to help but no kissing please.
