Trying to look for a quick solution

Yes Media Composer Software 3.something. Have not upgraded to 4 yet. At my home studio I have no hardware. I seem to ingest more DNG files than traditional digitizing so I can get away with software only.

I an old AVID editor. LOVE IT. But they are BOTH great tools. However I dont want to lose touch with the AVID world. I was just booked on a job using AVID and it was nice to jump on my system and see if I still knew how to drive the machine. Doing this before going to their studio and sitting with clients is worth it to me.

I know it is real hard to take a step back and learn something new, especially when you know how to use something so well but speed will come from using it.

Yep nice system. I had a similar dual boot/hardware at the office as well. It is sweet.

I am liking this “Triple Head2Go” but tell me how is this better than
popping in another video card (NVIDIA) and running the third monitor off that. May save a few dollars.

What am I missing?

Do you use MOTION? Color? They are video card reliant…and freak out when TWO are present. They aren’t designed for two cards, so they have…issues.

I’m trying to learn Motion…probably won’t use color until I get more familiar and comfortable with FCP.

GRAPHICS CARDS…not capture cards. Adrenaline is a firewire connection anyway…the Kona is Internal. I don’t know what would happen if you have Kona and Nitris DX installed…that might be an issue.

i think that we may have confused things by having two threads here:

MULTIPLE MONITOR vs DUAL BOOT

Two graphic cards does the multiple monitor setup. Or you could use Triple Head2Go instead.

A Dual boot setup via two hard drives or a partitioned hard drive (one HD that is setup to act as two) allows you to run FCP and AVID independently.

WHo are you asking? I recommend AGAINST this. Might work for Avid…might for FCP. But Motion and Color hate it.
