You can just Chroma key the black out. Drop the Chroma Keyer FX onto the event and then select the Pick tool and click it on the black.
Put some media on the timeline underneath and you will see the title is black has gone .

The background is already transparent – you just have nothing to show there. Put a clip under the title and you’ll see it behind the title.

Thanks for the reply. I probably wasn’t clear enough with my question. If you look at this frame of the live stream of my band you’ll see the footage is behind us with a black background. I’d like to make the background transparent so you can only see the words, then layer them in front of us in OBS instead of behind us.

Thanks John for your reply. Yes that’s what I’m after. How do I do that?

Hi Peter, Your image of the Logo from your download was shown as a .png transparent file but the actual Black area is Black so it will not show anything on the timeline below where you will have your piece of Band media.
So, you have a couple of options but the easiest one is to put your Logo media on the Top Timeline and then select the Crhoma Keyer FX tool from the ( Video FX Tab ) and add it to that media. Then within the Chroma Keyer options, click on the Colour bar and then select the little Pic tool and then move the cursor over to the Black area that surrounds the Logo and click it. The Black background will disappear and you will see any Media placed underneath the Logo timeline.
If the Area of Black is not completely gone, have a play with the slider tool in the Chroma Keyer ( Low threshold / High threshold ) to get the best results.
Hope this helps..

I’m not 100% sure but perhaps what I’m want to do isn’t possible ( it won’t be the first time). Remember John that whatever the video looks like on the preview screen is what the video will look like when rendered. Also, I’m not adding band media (footage) into Vegas under the text (SREAM STARTS 7PM). I’m rendering the time line, which contains the text part and other video parts, to make a single video to layer up behind us on the green screen during a live stream. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sUgf8FRD7ESome contents or functionalities here are not available due to your cookie preferences!
