    Happy New Year all!!!

I am looking into purchasing 1 curved monitor to replace to for editing. Which one do you recommend that is affordable and I can color correct with.

    Thanks!

You can always look up in google for “Best Curved Monitors for Video Editing” and I found a list of them for you! Hope this would help. Best ones would be within the 4K/IPS monitor screens for some of the best color correction options out there. Hope it helps! Even if it says 2023, I am sure they are good for 2024 as well!

    Hey Mary,

As Hector suggests, there are many “best 5” lists out there for curved monitors.

However, call me old fashioned, but:
Curved monitors are great for saving space and seeing everything on one screen.
I do not use them myself, but have considered it.

However, when finishing and doing the final pass on the Master, my preference would be a flat monitor. Only so I can have the same experience as the vast amount of people watching the program.
(That is subject to change as ultra-thin roll-out mobiles/tablets/TVs becomes mainstream)

This should not stop you from getting a curved monitor, but maybe for you to consider using a flat calibrated monitor for confidence and last check.

    Just an opinion.

When they come up with one that can replace three Cinema 30s, them I’m in 🙂

Every year I’ve been checking and waiting and still nothing to date.

And it would strictly be for GUI.

Nothing can replace my Eizo for grading.

    Eric, totally agree.

    One big AMEN to that!!!
And no, I’m not religious – but my EIZO is my “altar”.

Currently working up to getting a 4K monitor, although I did afew months back I managed to sneak in a 65″ LG OLED instead.
There is a story waiting to be told about that going in to the living room, as I thought that the plasma it replaced was of a similar size (it was 42″!!! 😱).
At least my young kids appreciated it by saying: “Thank You dad, we have now got a cinema” 😂

But the right EIZO monitor, if grading, is that thing you never thought you needed, but once you have it, it will never leave you.

Thank you and I agree with you about staying flat for color grading.

EIZO CG3146 (not OLED and using backlight) is about $30,000 US. I’ve used one (not mine) but found I can color grade (HDR or otherwise) with same level of accuracy and more easily on a $1200 LG C2 43″.

If I were to do non-OLED display, then EIZO would be the choice, but I can’t see myself going back to any non-OLED display now or in the future regardless of the feature set the display brings.

No specs for the system in question.

Careful if you have a Mac, it’s still a bit of a nightmare finding a wide screen that goes higher than 1200 pixels height.

Has anyone tested or have any experience with the ViewSonic VP3881A and Mac?

    Asking for a friend 🙂
