June 5, 2009 at 2:51 amI just did a green screen project where they shot with 2 different cameras. Both were using the widescreen dvcPRO50 codec. The first camera was a hvx200 and the second was an sdx900. The hvx exhibited the pixelated edging seen in the barbie png early on in this thread. There was no issue with the sdx900. The hvx was transferred from p2 cards and converted to quicktime movies and i was keying in final cut using Boris Continuum Complete. The problem looked worse on my Panasonic 1700 LCD monitor than it did on my Sony 13″ CRT.

And your point is?
The SD camera shot better SD? The SDX imager was designed as one of the finest professional SD imagers (and I believe was something like the 5 or 6th generation of the base imager design?)The HVX200 when it was released was along the lines of a 1st gen “prosumer” HD imager (did you ever update the firmware on the HVX ?)
Without having those 2 specific cameras tuned to each other (as should be done for this type of shoot – having 2 different cameras to shoot with) you are talking about comparing apples and oranges.
Did you test before hand?
if so why didn’t this show up in your tests so you could decide on a different path if needed?gary adcock

April 7, 2010 at 8:36 amI imagine that this post is almost dead and that everyone has moved on to bigger and better things, however, I just thought I’d share my experience.
I have had a HVX200 for a few years now and I’m pleased with it in many ways. However, I have continuously had the halo effect on the right hand side and fully agree with Per. I am looking to upgrade my camera now simply because I can no longer stand having this halo. I have been able to get away with it for web work or for delivery of video on screens that are small…but it is very noticeable on the big screen.
I really don’t want to go over ‘old ground’ and have this debate all over again and the purpose of this post is twofold:
1. Thanks to Per for trying to solve this issue and for creating a lively discussion on the issue.
2. Is this problem still present on the HVX200ae?
3. Per, could you tell me how to achieve the workaround? I use shake and I’m not too sure how to implement your solution.
Many thanks, Mick

July 19, 2011 at 12:55 pmHey Per,
I have that same problem when using Reflecmedia Chromatte .
I don’t why it does that.
I used settings from someone who had used the hvx200 with chromatte and got good results
but for some reason my Hvx200A did not have such good results. 🙁
