November 26, 2011 at 11:39 amYou are all up to date with the current version yes?
Try applying a crop filter to a clip and then do not change any parameters of the crop, leave it 0, as is and make sure it’s in the work area, will that render?

November 26, 2011 at 4:03 pmChris,
I did what you said to do and it doesn’t work.
Maybe I set up the timeline to the wrong format to handle the P2 Clips?
Also some gopro clips show up smaller than the program when added to the timeline. I did drop them on the new item in the bin window and it places them on a new sequence but how do I get them in the body of the other sequence?
I used to edit on discrete logic’s *edit but this is a whole new ballgame…
Your suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks,
Bruce.
I am using Adobe Premiere Pro 5.5 on a IMAC 27, Intel core i5 2.7 GHz, 12 GB 1333 MHz DDR3… OSX 10.6.8
Thanks in advance for your help.

November 26, 2011 at 5:04 pmWhich ever format you have the most of – go with that one.
If P2 is the majority of the footage then start there.
Your go pro clips may be of smaller size. You’ll need to res them up or put them over a background.Have you tried creating an all new proj?
You have enough hard drive space for renders right?Next would be Adobe Tech support or re-installing the app.
You have to “De-activate” it before un-installing it. FYIChris Tompkins

November 26, 2011 at 7:39 pmIn trying everything to make this render, I went into the get info on the external and internal drives.
I haven’t reloaded the software yet.
Before I reload a project, the original footage was on a P2 card shot at 1080i/60i and I am unsure what to select for the sequence settings menu. In the 1080i folder drop down should I select AVC_I 100 1080i60 ? This and other factors may be causing my problems?
The internal drive has 507 gigs avail and is formatted Mac os extended (Journaled)
The External segate drive has 1.07 TB avail and I just caught it that it is formatted Windows NT File System.
So I guess there is plenty of room.
If this is a problem (and I think it may be) Would anyone have an idea on how to correct this and save the footage already saved on it?
It was P2 footage and it is not all available to re upload from the P2 cards, but I do have another hard drive offline with the same footage on it but it isn’t available for me to see what format this other hard drive has at this time. I will have access to it next week.
I have edited previous jobs but it may have been footage that wasn’t P2 and I was able to render.
What a dilemma.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Yes.
Can you fit everything off the external onto the internal to reformt that drive “Mac OS Extended”?

November 26, 2011 at 8:34 pmI’ll probably just buy an another external drive or use another drive as there isn’t the space I need internally…
I hope this is the problem… I remember when I initially got this drive I formatted it for both Mac and PC… Well, whatever I did was wrong.
Would you think all the work I have done will re “sync” itself when I reformat it?
It may all be saved internally…

November 27, 2011 at 11:26 amDon’t worry Bruce, You won’t lose your work as long as you have the proj. and sequence.
You may have to relink the first time you launch with a different HD.

November 28, 2011 at 12:50 pmChris,
I transferred all the contents of the external drive to a new drive. I am trying to relink the data.
Is there a way to do it in a batch. From What I see it needs to be done a clip at a time and I know that can’t be the only way. I’m working with so many clips it would take a year.
Maybe I should reformat the original extrnal drive and transfer all the footage back to it.
Asnusual and it’s everyone’s problem, I am deadline driven and in a big mess.
I would hate to have to redo this job.
Any help is appreciated.

November 28, 2011 at 2:28 pmI was getting the “error compiling movie when I went to render the “old job/project” on drive 1.
When I checked drive 1 it said the drive was formatted for NT so…
Here is what I have done so far.
Transferred all my video files from external drive 1 to a new external drive 2.
Restarted the computer and started a new project and imported video from the new drive 2…
Opened a new sequence and dropped video onto the time line. When I try to render the video and hit the return key to do that, it starts playing and doesn’t render. When I use the render selected work area from the file menu, it starts playing video on the timeline also. It won’t render, it plays.
I do have a yellow line in the time line window. I have selected the work area properly and set the time line parameters correctly for the original P2 video.
This system has worked properly for previous jobs I have worked on but this job is problematic.
There is some additional information in my previous posts with some of my attempts to get working.
I thought an entire new project with the info on a properly formatted drive would be the answer.
I have a multitude of clips and bins organized and described in the “old job” and I really do not want to redo all that again.
The information on drive 1 (old) was coming from the NT format drive but played and worked on the time line but would not render.
Chris, or anyone have any idea on where to go or what to do?
I was trying to re link up the original job to all the sources on the new properly formatted drive 2 and would like to know how, if possible it could be done in “batch” instead of clip by clip.
I am new to Premiere and I never thought it would be this complicated. I have worked in other editing programs (*edit)
