December 10, 2013 at 9:00 pmI don’t think this update is going to be anything at all like those previous ones. I think it’s going to require OS X 10.9.1.
I mostly just want some new mac pros. Mostly.

December 10, 2013 at 9:09 pmI’m not sure I see how 10.9.1 comes into the mix. Beta testers and trainers have been running some form of 10.1 on their systems for months now. The new FCPX may require you to be running Mavericks, but I’m not sure why this 9.1 update is so important. Is there something in it for the MacPro?
I’m not sure what you mean when you say that the new update won’t be like the feature update times I posted.
All I’m pointing out is when in the day Apple has released feature updates on the appStore. It’s not definitive, but that’s the history of feature releases we have.

December 10, 2013 at 9:17 pmI’m just hoping they meant December 2013 and not some other year…

December 10, 2013 at 9:25 pmIn my experience most new hardware releases come on or near point OSX releases. 10.9.1 beta has been in developers hands for about a week. The Mac Pro is requires drivers to work two GPUs, and they probably weren’t perfect when 10.9 went Golden Master back in September? October?

I mean that this is most likely a very large overhaul and not a little bug fix update. I think it could very well require a separate install vs replacing the App you have. I think FCPX and the Mac Pro will probably release simultaneously or very close together since Apple stated Aperture, Logic, and FCPX are being retooled to take advantage of all the Mac Pro can offer.
I guess we’re debating whether this will be a “Christmas” release where all gifts come at the same time vs a Chanukah release where all the things come staggered a few days apart.

December 10, 2013 at 9:28 pmI’m hoping it’s not a Hanukkah release since it’s over for this year!

The 4 updates I listed above were only the “feature” updates since launch. The bug fix updates have come on different days and across a wider span of time during the day.
Whether 10.1 is a “new” install or an update is one of the questions on everyone’s mind, but I don’t think it’ necessarily changes two key data points.
1. Feature updates are released on Tuesdays (Logic Pro X was launched on a Tuesday as well)
2. These updates were released between 5:30am and 11:30am Pacific on their respective days.If 10.1 is launching with the MacPro, I expect a very early release that day. Apple won’t want to take the store down to make changes to the MacPro page during prime hours.
Let’s see (next week?) if both 1 and 2 still hold true.

December 11, 2013 at 1:32 amMy SAN provider emailed and said the software is blessed for Mavericks.
So at least, whenever the new MacPro is released, it will work with this shared storage.
My guess is that it will be here tomorrow. And then tomorrow every day after that until release when it will be today.
