    FCP doesn’t render to DVD or Blu-ray. It can produce both DVD and Blu-ray compatible video.

    It is correct that Apple does not offer a Blu-ray authoring solution.. their DVD Studio Pro application does support DVD, but not Blu-ray. Given that Apple is the only major vendor of media authoring tools not supporting Blu-ray at this point, one must assume that the media content software part of Apple has to cow-tow to the iTunes store. While it’s hard to imagine iPods, iPhones, iPad, or Apple TV are really in competition with Blu-ray (given the 720p, 1.5Mb/s videos in the iTune store… Apple TV doesn’t do 1080i, none of the other Apple devices do digital video output of any kind).
