[Bob Jordan] “you can try to convert MOV to a more editing-friendly format such as WMV or MPEG-2. “

Just FYI.. WMV is not an “edit-friendly” format and is one of the worst formats you can edit in Vegas Pro. Vegas can’t even read the audio in these files so it has to create audio proxies. Do not convert files to WMV to edit in Vegas Pro, it will just lead to other problems.

FYI — I just received my first footage from a BMD Cinema Cam and am having the identical problem. Audio imports, no video.

It was recorded using ProRes LT. It plays fine in VLC and other players. Vegas only imports the audio. Besides dragging it in, I tried “import media”… says it can’t understand the video format 🙁

I’m surprised that Vegas Pro imported the audio without QuickTime being installed. It usually warns you to install QuickTime. Glad you figure it out.

…not sure if this helps at all, BUT you can always upload the .mov file to your YouTube account, then download what you just uploaded as an .mp4 file from your YouTube Creator Studio (the download option is under the Edit dropdown next to your video in the list). Not sure about quality downgrades, but at the very least the video will be there along with the audio.

[manuel pimentel] “my head is about to explode, everything says I “Should” be able to play the file, but I Can’t, “

When I had this problem using footage from an iPhone, I used QWinFF to convert my MOV files to MP4. They imported fine then into Vegas.

    My system specs: Intel i7 7700k 4.20 GHz, GTX570, 16GB RAM, Gigabye Z170 HD3, Vegas Pro 12 (x64), Windows 10 x64 Pro, Vegas Production Assistant 1.0, VASST Ultimate S Pro 4.1, Neat Video Pro 2.6
