January 31, 2013 at 1:08 amI’ll throttle my CPU back to stock, but let’s just say I won’t hold my breath. I’ve been OC’ing my processors since forever and been using Vegas since version 5 and this is the first time I’ve ever had an issue. However, with that being said, I still hope that you’re right because I can’t take another day of this. I might have to do the unthinkable and move to…Adobe Premiere.

February 1, 2013 at 1:54 pmGPU acceleration on or off? Try disabling…very problematic in Vegas 12…even the new build, not yet sure but playback frame rates lock at source rate on Best/full during playback in the new build with accel off and I have not tested yet for program hang with accel on.
Get the very latest beta video drivers…seems never to hurt and has helped me a couple times these frustrating months since 12 was released…a real train wreck version for Sony…I have been on since v4 and this is the worst yet.
What kind of source footage? New version fixes some P2 bugs but the release notes say you have to re-import the source media. My tests last night after uograde are promising but incomplete.
Thread aetting? No more than one less than the total # of cores in the system. 4 cores? 3 rendering threads. And set memory buffer size to 500 or 750…no more or Vegas will page swap.
Also, can you try a render to a physical disk instead of Ssd? There are some reports around about Ssd issues unrelated to Vegas but related to corruption of data…
Just some random thoughts to suggest…

February 1, 2013 at 2:16 pmHey David, thanks for all the info! I’ll definitely give all your suggestions a shot.
I’ve rendered with both GPU accel on and off with same results. However, I’ll have to check to see if I have the latest drivers. Sometimes I let video drivers fall by the wayside.
The footage I use is .m2ts from either a NEX-VG20 or a Hauppauge PVR. I’ve used this file type countless times before with no issues, albeit on an older version and older computer.
I never even thought about changing the thread settings, but I’ll give it a go. Also, I’ll change the memory buffer. I think it’s set to 300 at the moment.
And finally, I’ll try the simplest first and render to an HDD instead of an SSD. I got the SSD specifically for quicker rendering times, but I’d much rather have a completed product that takes longer to render than nothing at all.
Thanks again for everybody’s input thus far.

May 6, 2013 at 3:00 amThis may seem a bit obvious, but I’ve seen weird render artifacts when my project frame rate didn’t match my render frame rate.
