Well I found the problem. It was heat after all. I cleaned out the box. It was dusty as hell. Tried a render and it got to 100% with no problems. Thankyou to all for being so helpful and so quick to respond.

[Chris Standring] “Well I found the problem. It was heat after all.”

Yeah, when I posted my series of “Checks” and after that I read you had issues at various percentages % of completion, the fact that the target was wondering about, got me to my next check and that was anything mechanical impinging on your process. What was next, for me, was HEAT! Hence my invitation for you to look inside the box. What would have been good for you to understand just how much this was, to run a Temp program to ascertain just how much heat your PC was generating PRIOR to cleaning and then AFTER cleaning. That would have been edifying to know.

Rendering is a severely CPU and other component-stressing procedure. If your PC is a bit under par/spec, here I mean ready to handle rendering, then rendering WILL make your PC scream back at you. And it did!

I’m real glad you didn’t reinstall WIN7. Now knowing that it was a heat issue, or rather a reduction of an adequate ventilation system issue, you would have STILL had the same fail, and that after maybe a full morning or day even of fut-zing around with a reinstall, when a blow-out, brush or whatever cured the day.

I hope you continue with this issue rearing its head for the foreseeable future. I regularly open the box once every 6 months to have a look-see and a cursory clean, Springtime or not.

    Cheers

    Grazie
