Sony Vegas 10.1 Blotchy Video after rendering.

The Sony NX70 looks like a nice pro HDTV camera. I’m not to that level of shooting quite yet and don’t know that I’ll ever be. I do have a project with a buddy of mine shooting Garbage Trucks. Yes Garbage Trucks, but nothing is final.

The other day I’ve pickup a Canon T3i dSLR camera. It’s a nice unit which I think will do well to satisfy my photo and video needs. Sound is a big issue as you mentioned because while these dSLR’s shoot great video, audio control is lacking.

They do have an external mic input but is has AGC which can’t defeated in the settings. AGC, I’m told hinders audio by clipping loud passages and has other negative effect, so I’m told. I haven’t used the camera yet, so I can’t attest to this, but this is the main compliant I hear from users. I’ll have to see for myself.

I could have picked up Panasonic GH2 that is heralded for its photo and video quality, but I got deal on the T3i that I couldn’t pass up.

What are you shooting with the Sony these days.

I found out that the T3i actually has the ability to disable AGC, it’s called manual audio. Cool.

Hi;

Good to hear the audio has manual gain. AGC is good for most stuff, but for live music you need manual. Does your cam have a mic input? If it does, I recommend the Rode Stereo VideoMic. For the price has unbeatable quality.

My current video project is a 20-minute time-lapse + other epic scenes of El Paso. I’m trying to really, really focus on proper camera work and editing. Trying to break out of my home-movie rut.

Regarding the NX70 – it is not really all that special. Any cam under about $10K will have a lot of flaws. But, as my friend Drew says, “the best camera is the one that gets the shot.” I’m trying to treat the little prosumer NX70 as a “proper” camera, being careful with tripod work, framing, focus, WB, even doing some stuff on improvised tracks. Still have months to go on just the shooting, not counting the editing.

Yes, the Canon has a mic input. I haven’t done any type of recording yet because I’ve found something to record. My passion is high end audio, maybe I can find something in that arena to shoot either with pics or video.

I’ve done a time lapse before. They are cool. I used an android app to determine how many frames I would need if I wanted a certain length time lapse. It was cool, but I stopped after I found out that Dslr’s have a finite actuation life. I don’t know if this affects video cameras. I suspect not.

So it looks like your shooting photos with your NX70? Is that right?
