Just make sure the switch and all the other Macs also support it.”Thanks for the advice Sean, unfortunately I have an older G5 without the PCIe slots. Out of curiousity though, what would the Jumbo Frames support afford me?

Larger TCP packet sizes, which reduces latency and takes pressure off your CPU.

Can you give a few details on what kind of switch is working for you? Any other technical details to setting up this kind of sharing arrangement?
We have a project that looks like it needs the same sort of low-budget approach. Did you “serve” the media from your fastest machine?
