Same as source export with different codects on timeline

Are you sure? I didnt’ think that was possible. Videos can be one codec only…from all I know. This goes against what I’m aware of.

I’ve dealt with mix codec files in Post before.
Most people aren’t even aware of it because the file wrapper can only describe one codec so it’s the first codec encountered.
I’ll test today because it’s not something I’ve tried to create for a few decades.

OK Shane I stand corrected.
It looks like MC won’t export a mixed resolution SAS
My tests showed a timeline with 2 clips 1 dnx 36 and one dnx185x exported SAS (non custom codec) exported as dnx185x
This was not affected by media creation settings.

A forced export as DNX36 or DNX185X took way longer (36 seconds compared to 6 seconds for the SAS export from a DNX185x mixdown)

Exporting SAS non custom codec without a mixdown took the same time as a forced export at custom codec dnx36 or dnx185x

The mixdown time was about 15 seconds. so a mixdown and then a SAS non custom codec is about 2/3 the time of using a custom codec

Just for fun I AMA linked all my outputs back into MC and superimposed over my DNx185X mixdown and couldn’t see any gamma shifts…
