January 19, 2012 at 5:25 pmThanks for the pictures, Shane.
What exactly are you trying to do here?
Do you need to export without the dialogue role or do you just want to “mute” the dialog role for playback?
Both are possible.
From your original post, it looks like you want to export without dialog. For this, you will need to export a QT movie using the Roles function and simply leave out the “Dialog” Role, then compress the movie in Compressor.

Sounds good…give it a try when I get home.

January 19, 2012 at 6:30 pmYou will use “Export Roles as Multitrack QT” and then simply deselect Dialogue.
Here’s an example picture:

January 20, 2012 at 5:46 amRight, I was thinking that way of doing things wasn’t the highest quality “pro-way” of doing it…seemed more like a quickie output and exporting direct to compressor was the legit way to do it…but i see its basically just exporting your project as ProRes and not compressing it at all…then you can just bring that exported timeline/project into compressor and do a robust, detailed export with really honed in settings, etc….not just to export something real quick and throw it up on youtube.
Im trying to export a music video i filmed and edited as the highest quality as a sort of “master copy” that is the absolute highest possible quality, just for reference.

It’s not about that, really, it’s more about the Roles and what you want to leave out.
If you want to leave out a role, you have to do it like has been outlined, if you want to export everything, you can use the other direct compress options like you’ve been doing.
