You, my friend, have spent a lot of time on this 😉

    Great results !!

Now, I’m sure Echospace could take care of that layer duplication, been trying to find a second use of that plug in ever since I bought it 😉

    Not sure what you mean,

do you mean that we are looking at the projection and the rays are originating from below us ?
Should work fine by just readjusting the position of the camera.

I tweaked the file some more to have greater resolution and have the projection end in a smaller dot than in the previous example.
The camera moves to a point you might find suitable, tweak it to your taste

Also, this one uses CCRadial Blur with a negative amount, so it’s a bit more subtle, but the rays will never go further than the screen.

Lastly, as a test the beam copies all had Motion blur activated: that’s something even most 3D apps won’t do easily: motion blur on volumetrics: yeay !

the comp is up for grabs at:

Don’t own echospace, but in essence i’ve programmed it’s functionality into my precomp:

mutliple echos scaling up and fading out. I put some sliders on a null to control spacing and fading decay, but I believe echospace does the same, so there you go: Trapcode is the answer to everything 😎

I want to do this same trick, but having problems making the light ray project onto screen. The walk thru is not detailed enough for me do, due to my lack in after effects.

    Thanks

What I am trying to do is fake like the movie is being projected on to a screen.
