Your system seems to have problems that run deeper than just Vegas, then. Sounds like it’s time for a fresh reformat and windows install. It’s near impossible to troubleshoot the one problem (exporting) when there are a slew of other things that seem to be contributing. With a fresh install of OS + software, you’re at least setting a better test bed for diagnosing the weird issue.

What are your system specs? They don’t show in your profile.

That’s right – I read that FAQ a few weeks ago and said “I gotta store that in memory on the off chance it happens to me!” Needless to say, I promptly forgot (since my Vegas install has always behaved remarkably well, fortunately). Good call.

DavidD – did you try Mike’s suggestion? It could save you a bunch more running around.

Awesome, that fixed it. There was a jumbled string in there, not even sure what it was, anyways, deleted it and it works. Thanks for that.

Is it going to only be 720X480? I thought SD was 1280×720 – but in the custom settings it says 720X480…? Did I mix up on a setting?

[DavidD] “Is it going to only be 720X480? I thought SD was 1280×720”

Eh, 1280x would be HD. SD (in NTSC land) is 720×480 whether you use 4×3 or 16×9.

Ok, thanks for that – I was under the impression that HD was 1920×1080…

I am just discovering that rendering it out Widescreen 16:9 24p doesn’t give me widescreen with DVDA. What should I do then? Render it at 4:3 instead? that will give me the black bars?

[DavidD] “Ok, thanks for that – I was under the impression that HD was 1920×1080…”

It varies, and HD may be, but you were asking about SD, which is 720×480.

What are you rendering as? Be specific please. Rendering as 16×9 SD from Vegas should give you 16×9 SD in DVD Architect no problem, I do that all the time. I also just did a test-render with 24p (which I usually do not render to) and it worked fine.

Please specify what template you are using, what properties you are changing etc.
