Wow, I hardly thought David’s comment deserved such a harsh response from Ron.

    Wow, you don’t, eh?

If you were one of the people paying the bills around here and were one of the ones who’ve been fighting for years to keep this kind of adolescent bickering off the forums, you just might feel differently. Especially if you had researched the guy and found that his own site contains the kind of PC Fanboy anti-Apple rhetoric that he so casually began using here.

    No thanks, I am not a buyer…

    Hi everyone,

Well…I agree with Ron that most of the Creative Cow is about “Software tools” and not about MAC or PC.
For many years I have been using both systems at work, (Mac only at home) and once I open an application i need to work in, I don’t really care anymore if I’m on a Mac or PC, because there are no big differences in how apps work in either environment.
Don’t get me wrong, although I’m a Mac-Enthusiast, I know very well that no system is perfect. Because if one was , that would be the end of progress.

Folks mostly getting frustrated about things, because they don’t want to spend time to solve a problem, through troubleshooting and reading up on it. Of course it’s a lot easier to just post on the forum, than spending time to dig deeper into a problem . In my experience most problems are caused by operator error.

    I personally don’t think there’s anything wrong by being a MAC-fan or a PC-Fan,
but once you try to convince someone that your machine is better than the other , that’s where folks getting carried away easy-let’s leave the church at home.

I wish everyone here on the cow a happy New Year.
    Adi

Um, excuse me, but I don’t really see what you’re talking about. The only time I ever mentioned Apple on my website is in my entry about the Creative Zen in which I state that most iPod users only bought iPods so they can say “Hey, look! I have an iPod!”. I’m wasn’t being a PC fanboy. I was speaking from experience. I know 4 people who bought iPods, simply because of the “cool commercials”.

And, as I said before, I only made my original comment to keep OTHERS from bringing fanboy-like comment to this thread, simply because I wasn’t sure at the time how “adult” the people around here were. Like you, I simply won’t put up with it anymore.

Now, look. I am sorry for the misunderstood comment that I made. But, let’s not start taking shots at each other here.

Personally, David, when I read your site you cast ALL iPod users in the same form. Period.

    You said it, not me.

Or did I miss the fact that when you insult people you really only mean to insult just a few of them???

    Then say so.

But you didn’t. You took a big brush and painted ALL iPod users with the same brush.

So, if I missed something in it all, it’s because I was only reading what you said.

They were your words, not mine.

I never thought one sentence on a website which hardly no one reads would cause such a fuss. So, here you go:

    https://www.techsamurai.net/entry/13/a-formal-apology

Now maybe we can put this whole thing behind us and go on to other things. Because, after all, this website is supposed to be mature.

David, the statement you made regarding iPods, see quote below,
is just plain silly and “immature”- If you really mean that in all honesty you are making a fool out of yourself…
    Take care,
    Adi

Thank you, David. It is appreciated.

Like you, I really take offense when people make flippant remarks that “An Apple could do that…” or “Apple rules!” — when the comment has nothing to do with the question being asked and doesn’t give an answer.

But around the COW, Kathlyn and I see far more PC people attacking Mac people than I see Mac people slamming their counterparts.

My point in all this was merely to put my foot down and say that this is not going to happen here. Offhand flippant remarks directed at insulting others simply isn’t going to be tolerated here.

Thanks for making the record straight.

    Adi,

I believe this issue has been resolved. It would be wise to not add fuel to the flame. Besides, I have already explained my reasoning behind that statement, which as I admitted, was an unfair conclusion about iPod users.

  • David Brown

    December 31, 2007 at 9:30 pm

Adi, I really don’t see why any of that is relevant anymore. Yes, everyone has their own opinion and what not, but Ron and I have come to a conclusion and I don’t think it needs an further discussion. All you are doing is enticing others to argue your points.

Anyway, thank you all for your help. It seems that there are many reasons for the poor video quality, mainly the compression format and my monitor. QT Animation files seem to look the most accurate.

I did look through the options in my nVidia control panel and found that the normal color correction options do not apply to videos. I had to adjust the video color settings separately.

Everything appears to be working fine now. Thanks again!
