Activity Forums VEGAS Pro Render to Hard Disk and then to Architect

[Danick Sierras] “The reason that I have to use the two steps in creating a video file and then an audio file, is because if I click on the “Make Movie” in Vegas Movie Studio, and then select the “Blu-Ray Disc with Menus”, the program selects a .w64 audio format that I can not change. “

If it’s making a w64 file that’s uncompressed PCM audio.

[Danick Sierras] “I am now coming to the conclusion that DVD Architect STUDIO is not able to render an AC-3 audio file when creating a Blu-ray disc. Maybe this is just for the pro version. “

You may be right. I have DVD Architect Studio 5.0 (build 128) on my workstation and it allows me to set the project to AC3. I also have Vegas Pro 11.0 and DVD Architect Pro 5.2 on my workstation so perhaps that’s why? Look at File | New and see if you can set your project audio to AC3.

    John,
how can that be possible for Blu-ray? I too have DVD A Studio b128, VPro 10 and 11 (b425) and DVD A Pro b124 on the same computer and I don’t find a way to set AC3 in File/New nor in File/Disc Properties.
Also from DVD A Studio Help:
    Audio format
Select the control, click the button, and choose a setting to indicate the format whether you want to use PCM Stereo audio, AC-3 Stereo audio, or AC-3 5.1-surround audio.

Only PCM Stereo audio is available for Blu-ray Disc projects.

Just like Jorma, the Blu-ray projects only have the selection for PCM. For DVD projects, I can select PCM, AC-3 Stereo or Surround.

But that’s fine for Sony to have these settings as defaults for new projects. The issue I’m having is why Studio wants to re compress the AC-3 audio that was passed down from Movie Studio for Blu ray movies.

So the question is, is anyone able to prepare a Bly ray movie with DVD Architect Studio that was rendered from Vegas Movie Studio with AC-3 audio WITHOUT re compression.

OK, my mistake. I see now that when I select Blu-ray is switches to only PCM audio. That’s strange because AC3 is available for DVD. I don’t use Studio because I have the Pro version and I just checked this out quickly but I’d say that only having PCM audio for Blu-ray is a limitation of DVD Architect Studio.

Yea, I missed that… I had the project set to DVD. You’re correct that DVD Architect Studio only allows PCM audio for Blu-ray.
