March 12, 2009 at 12:01 pmSo, where should it be sent and how long will it take? I’m in VA.
I have seen “torrent” sites with the firmware, but I know nothing about them and am not going to take a chance on them. Thanks.

March 12, 2009 at 1:05 pm[Vladimir Lozinski] ” They refused to touch the camera as it had not been bought though their network.”
Hard to understand.
Normally I go to Bangkok to fix my camera.
I really have to compliment SONY Thailand for their service.
Really professional, fast and always very reasonable prices.
Also I’m very happy of the boom of Apple in Thailand.
Now there are official services in the country. No need to send the Mac to Singapore.
I know what means to be without service availabe, but I never came across with an situation like yours in France.

March 13, 2009 at 2:23 amFrankly, it wasn’t so much the money as the reported time it was taking to get the upgrade. By all reports it was 2-3 weeks to get the camera sent in and returned for this upgrade. We’ve upgraded 3 camera’s so far, and they all are working swimmingly. As with all risk, if it works, it’s always worth it, if not, never. Only hindsight tells. In our case, it was worth it.

March 13, 2009 at 9:33 amWell, I’m willing to try it. Do you know a reliable link for the software? Is Mininova.org ok?

April 22, 2009 at 11:51 amHi,
I just installed successfully the firmware from Mininova.org. It is useful to watch this video:
Now I am wondering why the camera doesn’t work with a Transcend ExpressCard 32GB.
Any idea?
SONY cards work OK so there is nothing wrong.
Radim

April 22, 2009 at 2:06 pmThe card itself might be the problem
Best to get MxR, MxM or Hoodman’s new SDHC adaptor. Transcend SDHC Class 6 32GB cards do work (several have reported this) although I haven’t tried it myself.
I’m actually using Sandisk SDHC Ultra II Class 2 32GB cards but many are reporting the newer Class 4 do not work.

April 22, 2009 at 9:54 pmHe’s using an ExpressCard (card may look like SxS). Few of those work and those that do only work in SP (HDV/25mbps) mode. They aren’t fast enough.
