Okay, so am abouts to buy this:

    3TB Pack – 3 x IBM (Hitachi) Deskstar 7K1000 SATAII 1TB 32MB

also will up grade graphic card to:

ATI Radeon HD 3870 512MB Graphics Card

I have 4gb of ram, (not 2gb as I thought) do you think I need any more ram to run the 3 extra drives at raid 0?

Really only using this mac for final cut pro, also the raid 0 will this be where I set my scratch disk at from now on in fcp?

These are the last questions I swear lol

4 gigs of ram should be fine. 8 would be better, but stick with 4 for now.

    That is correct.

Hi David, contrary to most information I’ve read, which says your media drives should never be formatted ‘journaled’ [similar recommendations on the AJA website], you recommend formatting the drives as ‘journaled’ for Jason.

Just so no media get hurt in the process, is it essentially a ‘yay’ or ‘nay’ on journaling for media drives?

The consensus of opinion is now that it’s a toss-up. Computers are fast enough now that journaling is probably not the processing burden that it was just a few years back. While I format my own media drives unjournaled, I’m obviously no longer a stickler on the subject.
