Mike.. Did you have a chance to see the video (or are you still laughing?) and have any advice for me?

Sorry for the delay Jon but, as you know, kids have a tendency to want to become your new priority 🙂
Yes, I looked at it and no, I didn’t laugh at you, just the content.

I’m not sure how you did the split screens but I’d suggest you take a look at John Rofrano’s Creating a Split Screen using a Mask tutorial.
It can easily be adapted for your needs.

Mike, thanks. The quick tutorial is great. Maybe I just need straighter lines!

One last question. When I play with these effects and the velocity now, all my videos come out choppy when I render them. Only on ones where I use the velocity or I put multiple clips overlapped (like a Matrix effect). Does that effect my render? Should I change any settings that will help make it smoother?

Jon, what format are you rendering them to?
Are you playing them back on your computer or elsewhere?

Mike, I am rendering to WMV with the only change in settings being setting the video quality to “best” instead of “good”.

Is there another format I should render to that might be better? To be honest I put it to wmv so my son can watch them on the Xbox360 with his friends.

Mike, here is the funny thing. I went to make a shorter version of this video and dropped the wmv into Vegas 8.0 and edited two of the problem clips into a short, 30-second wmv for you and it rendered the poor wmv into one that ran smooth! How is that possible. I went to the original wmv I had the problem with and it’s still choppy as can be, but this one seems to work when I render the already rendered wmv?

Sorry Jon but the bulk of my work is for DVD so I can’t be of any help to you this time 🙁
Hopefully someone else can solve your problem.
