August 14, 2008 at 5:30 pmThanks guys, the update to 6.0.4 is working currently. I’m still a bit hesitant about the system though, but at least I can work today!

November 18, 2010 at 5:37 pmI had the same problem and here is what I did and it worked.
Open the corrupt .fcp in TextEdit saved it as “.txt” Take that file and change it’s extension back to .fcp and it should be good to go. There might be some reconnecting to do but it’s all there.
Hope this helps.

December 23, 2010 at 6:15 pmThank you, that solved my problem
I had touble with capture now in fcp 4.5, then I took the quicktime receipts to the trash and updated quicktime in my G5 Mac Os 3.9 to quicktime 7.5. I solved my capture now problems, and now I finally can do it. But FC do not open my existing projects. It begins to open the project, and in the 18 % the program shuts down inexpectedly saying Kern Protection Failure.
New projects are fine, I can begin a new project, the problem now is with the existing ones.
Please if you can help me, I had some work to do.
Thank you,

This works – FCP 7.0.3 / 10.6.8
Thank you!

June 23, 2012 at 9:33 amThank so much for this! My mac had crashed and I had recovered my project files from it and all of them gave this error… i almost cried and was contemplating an alternative career after I would be fired from my current project… Thanks again so much for this…
