Proapps not working properly SSD

Its an OCZ Vertex 2, 60GB SSD. I checked it out beforehand and it was fully supported, and no one had any problems so far. I work for a premium reseller part time, who professionally installed it for me for free, so it was no effort.
To get to the bottom of this, what is it that a proapp does differently on Startup? (This seems to be happening with Aperture as well). What is it looking for? What folders is it moving? I fail to understand why EVERYTHING works fine, even things like After Effects CS5. Its the startup disk, it was formatted properly, all apps work from it, it boots up fine, its LITERALLY just the Proapps which dont start properly/ dont start at all. What is it that theyre doing which sets them apart? Cos whatever it is, its stupid.

Yes it is…. Well it’s not even a project yet. But no, it’s not opening a previous project yet, I’m talking about a fresh install, there is literally nothing but the OS, FCS and aperture.

This might be a shot in the dark, but the last Pro Apps (6.1 ) update broke DVD Studio Pro for some and Final Cut for others. Consider this: https://www.digitalrebellion.com/blog/posts/mac_os_x_10.6.6_breaking_final_cut_studio.html

And has anyone tried to do what you are doing? Perhaps you have a weird/busted drive or something.
I don’t know. Perhaps FCP isn’t ready for SSD.
When launching it’s looking for plugins and frameworks.

Possibly, but if thats the case why can I:
Format it to many maps including DOS.
Install Windows onto it
Install OSX onto it without a hitch
Run ANY other app from it without a hitch
Run ALL apps from it simultaneously super- fast
Disk Utility and Techtoools say its fine
I even di a firmware update (with was tiny), which was a bit of effort, had to format it NTFS using a windows install disk, setup bootcamp onto the HDD, boot into that, run the update exe, boot up onto the Mac OSX DVD, wipe EVERYTHING, reinstall onto the newly partitioned (As Journaled) SSD which then had latest firmware.
Reinstall FCS
Still no luck. It hangs for ages. Sometimes I can make it work by force quitting and restarting the application; then it opens fine every time, UNTIL I restart my computer. And I dont feel like having to leave it on 34/7 purely to avoid a silly proapps startup issue.I don’t know. Perhaps FCP isn’t ready for SSD.
Possibly, but surely an SSD is similar technology to an HDD, without the moving parts? I dont see how it should make a difference, especially as Apple now supply a variety of macs with SSDs as standard.“When launching it’s looking for plugins and frameworks”.
There must be more to it, all applications do that to an extent, what sets the Proapps apart?It may be worth mentioning it didn’t seem to happen before I installed 10.6.6 update, although this may take more vigorous testing to confirm- although the 6.6 update itself is surely not to blame because when I was booting from a normal HDD before, the 6.6 update didn’t impede anything…

Similar in that it’s a storage device. The actual inner working are completely different.
When launching FCP, keep your Activity Monitor open and see if you can find where it’s hanging. Also, open ‘Console’ in the utilities folder and see if you can find the last string when FCP hangs.

Ok maybe making some progress, apparently the bootcamp partition on my machine may have been the issue, because when that partition is ejected I don’t get any problem (thanks to my girlfriend for testing that one!)
How odd, but possibly relieving. So the next step is to use terminal to prevent it from automounting, I’ll post instructions on here on the weekend (I’m away) for anyone else who gets this issue, because apparently it can translate across to normal drives as well.😀

Sorry I may not have made it very clear because I assumed it irrelevant… Well you know what they say about assuming… Anyway it the Windows partition was actually on the standard Macintosh HDD, just sitting there innocently…
