February 12, 2008 at 2:10 pmno, i think your answer was much more helpful than mine.
I’d get fresh air right now, but, darn it, it’s too cold.

February 12, 2008 at 3:42 pmOhh okay. So would an app like Compressor be a better way to go? If so, would I just export my comp from AE to whatever app I want? Any specific settings I have to use?

February 12, 2008 at 3:59 pmI don;t know if compressor can limit the file size. You’ll have to look into that.
But as afar as compression goes, yeah – compressor is designed for this sort of thing.
As far as settings – do you mean in AE or your compression program?
In general you want to give your compression program the best possible source – so render out of AE as either uncompressed video, or a lossless compression format such as Quicktime with Animation compression. Yeah – it takes up a lot of space, but it’s only temporary. You can delete the big file when you have a final product that you are happy with.
If you must save space, you can try rendering a Quicktime with PhotoJPEG compression, but I have noticed some dulling of the color, while the picture stays fairly crisp.
If you mean specific settings for compressing in compressor, well, that will depend on what you’re trying to do.

February 12, 2008 at 4:24 pmSorry – what I mean is that Squeeze, for example, has an option where you put in the maximum file size you want, and it does everything needed to keep it at or close to that size.
Not the way I’d compress, as you loose control of things, but if you need stuff at or below a specific file size you have the option open to you.
