So you are coming round to the idea of recording to P2 Memory and transfering to hard disk, good.

    Hi Nick!

    I never was against P2.

I have said ” death to tape ” more then once. Jan can back that up, I believe.

I even wrote this: “” The thing is, the short record times can work for me, but I’m a very niche sector and I know it. I don’t like it, but I don’t think others should except it just cause I can””

Or : “””This is exactly why NO tape is a great thing coming!””

Nick, This clearly illustrates P2 is not an issue for me, as well the short record times can work for me. For me tape is not needed, but that’s “for me”.

Of course for now if the Price is insane, I will wait for it to become reasonable.

I said Memory media is the future as well.

See what you mixed up here Nick is my concern for others need separated from my own!

Just cause the small record times can work for me, I don’t assume or believe others should have to live with it. That happens far to much now days.

Other people have real concerns about P2 media costs and short record times for production. This is very valid to them, and just cause it’s workable for me I can understand why not for them.

Nick, I want longer record times, don’t get me wrong, but as I said i can make it work for me as it is for now.

See nick I think my concern for others peoples needs confused you with my own needs which I have stated.

I hope this has cleared that up where I stood on this subject a while ago!

Of course the debate now Micheal is what would she back that up with?

    DVD, BluRay, Hard Drive, Tape?

Thats nice , me i have no concerns about other peoples workflow they do not pay me to be concerned !

If the rest of the camera lives upto my high expectations of it then it will no doubt in my mind sell well and the P2 workflow will become established but no one expects it will takeover the market instantly !

    It was a joke….
albeit a really bad one…but a joke none the less.

See nick, you and I have very different philosophical ideas on this area. That’s why what I wrote didn’t translate in the beginning to you. No big deal, every person can treat others or have concerns that work for them.

    <<>>

I will agree with you Nick. I believe if this camera is anything like DVX100A but now HD P2 it’s going to take major sales instantly.

I just hope as they did with the DVX100 when it was first announced, that they release footage like they did of the birds on the beach, but this time some better content.

    Jan,

is Panasonic planning to upload footage like the beach clips etc from the DVX100, but this time of the HVX-200 in action?

Forget that 5GB model, try the 60GB model and plug it straight into the camera to record to directly. Lets call it P2h 😉

They might not achive a stable 100Mbps though, benchmarks I have seen averaged about 80Mbps from memory. Which also means quite slow to transfer P2 off, negating the only viable P2 workflow of record, dump, reuse. No goot if it takes longer to transfer than record.

    Hi Michael,

We will be doing that and I hope that I will get to drive the production. The footage that we kicked the SDX900 off with really rocked. And because of it we got a review of the making of the Music Video in American Cinematographer. I am hoping to do a similar thing when appropriate time.

    Best,
