please help w/ DVCPro HD to DV offline/online workflow

I let the Mac do the whole sequence overnight and opened it up today. The DVCPro HD clips seem to work fine, but there are all kinds of problems with the stills and AE files in the project. Most of them are are resized smaller and have their aspect ratio adjusted. Some are just smaller but show their size at 100%. I tried to put them back online and it’s a mess. Can’t copy and paste the clips from the original HD sequence to the offline DV sequence as I believe the anamorphic element of the DV sequence setting messes things up. So, is this normal? Either I’m making an error somewhere or there’s another way to deal with these files. Sorry to keep bothering you about this!!

You aren’t bothering me, it’s all good. You should not be copying and pasting from the HD sequence, it’s like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole, kind of, not exactly, but kind of. What do you mean you tried to put them back online? Put what back online? What was offline?

I appreciate that, really. What I’m saying is that anything that isn’t made in FCP (like AE file or stills) get all messed up in the dv version (the offline). So I tried to test if these files would be okay once the entire sequence was put back to the DVC Pro HD files (the online). Did this by selecting the DV “offline” sequence, sending it to the Media manager, making an offline (not recompressed) new project and sequence in DVC Pro HD, then reconnecting the media in the new project to the DVC Pro HD files. This is the process I described last time as having worked, but it seems it only worked for files FCP (not imported stills and AE files).

Try this…Instead of using the media manager, take the final dv sequence and export an XML (right click the sequence > export > xml) and choose version 2 keeping the tick box about master clips unchecked. Now in your HD project choose File > import > XML. Set the destination as your HD project, set the sequence settings to your HD settings, UNCHECK override settings from XML, and then check the other three boxes. If the media now comes in offline, simply select it and choose reconnect to media and choose the original HD media/stills.
