July 12, 2011 at 6:12 pmI have CS5 (10.0.2.4) on an Intel Core2Duo with 6GB RAM, Win 7 x64 – I just found out I have this bug too! I did everything Dave said (I am animating .pdf’s so the footage can’t be the problem)
Though, the common thread I am hearing here (noob assumption) is high layer counts, and maybe comp counts? … I have over 250 layers (all .pdf), but when I am animating I take only one or two into another Pre-comp (but not every layer is being animated)… my Pre-comps only have up to 6 or 7 layers, but I am not sure if the other 200 layers, and multitude of pre-comps are somehow affecting it…
anyone know of any other suggestions, fixes, or troubleshooting?

The problem seems to happen with random keyframes… it won’t be all the keyframes of a property, just 1 here and there. Like right now I am working with adding a Glow Layer Style, I have 5 keyframes set on the Glow size, but one of them is immovable, and won’t even turn yellow on click! If I double click it, it’ll bring up the property window to adjust the value, but I can’t move it in time.

February 14, 2012 at 2:12 pmThe solution to this is not to Drag the file making a composition from it, instead just make a composition by itself and then import your file.
At least that’s what fixed it for me. ^^

June 11, 2012 at 5:10 amI’m having the same trouble w/ CS6 and reading reports of this from back in ’08 – which makes this issue going on 4 years old now.
Same deal: random* keyframes become unmoveable in the timeline. They are selectable only by drag-over selection, but still not moveable.
Anybody hear of any fixes or clever workarounds? Tried the drag/select/copy/paste but no dice. Turned off live update, multiprocessing, and no help. I’ve only got about 40 layers. *In my case it seems specific to time remapping keyframes.

March 4, 2014 at 10:04 pmI’m having the same issues with position keyframes in both AE CS6 and CC. Certain keyframes won’t highlight when clicked. Only when you drag the selection tool over the keyframe will it select, but then you can’t move it. Todd Kapriva, any ideas what’s going on here?
