July 6, 2010 at 2:19 pmHi John,
thanks for this tip.
Indeed, the Sony support told me that Divx was not supported…And as I was having crashes, I followed the recommendations of Sony.
But I will try again as you say and will let you know.
btw, one thing is not clear for me: where does the list of AVI formats come from? I guess it is installed codecs, right?
In this case, which Divx codec should I use? Thanks,

July 6, 2010 at 8:09 pmHi again John
I tried to do what you say, but…
1) I don’t know what is a “template”. I am working with Vegas Movie Studio Platinum HD 10.0, not Vegas Pro. Maybe the templates are available only with Pro ??
2) I tried to render my project as follows (well, I translate the French messages to English as I can):
– toolbar button “Make a movie”
– record it on my hard drive
– button “advanced rendering”
– file type: Video for Windows (AVI)
– button “Customize…”
– image size: HDV 720 (1280×720)
– Image freq. : 25,000 (PAL)
– fields order : none
– video format: “DivX 6.9.2 Codec (2 Logical CPUs)”. It seems to come from m4ng according to the properties…But then, when I start the rendering, I got an error message:
“An error has occurred while creating multimedia file xxx.avi
An error has occurred while converting with a Codec.”Any clue of the way to make a DivX successfully, not going through M2T ?
Maybe I am using a wrong codec, but I don’t know which one to use…
Thanks for any lights you might bring to me !! 🙂

A template is what gets created after you use the Custom… button in Render As… and save it with a name. This way you don’t have to use Custom all the time. The Templates are listed right under the “Save as type” in the Render window.
“An error has occurred while creating multimedia file xxx.avi
An error has occurred while converting with a CodecYou seem to be doing everything correctly for the video settings. I wonder if the audio is causing a problem. Check the audio settings for the render. I think DivX likes MP3 audio.

Yes, Vegas only uses Video For Windows (VFW) codecs so DirectShow codecs will not be in this list and cannot be used by Vegas.

July 8, 2010 at 8:41 pmHi,
I have made several tests, but still get the same error:
1) Audio : 56 Kbits/s; 24 000 Hz; Stereo; MP3
Video : 25 fps; 1280 x 720 Progressif; DivX
Pixel shape : 1,0002) Audio : 56 Kbits/s; 24 000 Hz; Stereo; MP3
Video : 25 fps; 1280 x 720 High field first; DivX
Pixel shape : 1,0003) Audio : 56 Kbits/s; 24 000 Hz; Stereo; MP3
Video : 25 fps; 1280 x 720 Low field first; DivX
Pixel shape : 1,000I also tried to configure the DivX 6.9.2 Codec, to change the certification profile to 720HD.
In all cases the rendering fails after 1 or 2 seconds with the same error message as mentioned in my previous post.
Would you have any suggestion?
Indeed, I am not sure at all the my DivX codec is the right one. How could I check this? Which one do you use?
Thanks in advance

July 9, 2010 at 3:55 amI don’t use DivX so I don’t have any suggestions. I have rendered successfully using the DivX 6.9.2 Codec at 720p using uncompressed audio and it has worked fine.

November 19, 2010 at 11:16 amI’m having a similar problem with Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 8.0. I’m getting the low memory error message while rendering.
My spec is as follows:
Fujitsu P9900 0-Watt
Windows 7 Professional x64
Intel Core i5 – 3.2 GHz – Dual Core
4 GB MemoryWorking with AVCHD files.
The memory usage while rendering never exceeds 1.9 GB, yet I still get this error message!
I can render projects with over an hour of content sucessfully (if a little slowly) on my old Windows XP Home PC, which has 2 GB of memory.

Well… Movie Studio is a 32-bit application so it will never see more than 2GB of memory regardless of how much memory your computer actually has. I would check your Dynamic RAM Preview setting in your video preferences to make sure it’s not set too high. That will steal memory away from rendering. Maybe set it to zero and see if it helps.

November 19, 2010 at 5:02 pmProblem solved, thank you very much! Setting the Dynamic RAM Preview to 0 worked a treat, the video rendered without a problem. I can’t tell you how grateful I am, a sizeable part of my income depends on my videography work, so it’s vital that the software works.
